The Foundry Division The Foundry business is managed and operated by Benguet Management Corporation (BMC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Benguet
Corporation. BMC was founded in 1980 primarily to invest in projects and enterprises that diversify, stabilize and strengthen the investment portfolio of the Benguet Group.
In April 1988, BMC took over the assets
and operations of the Foundry Division of Engineering Equipment, Inc. (EEI), a former subsidiary of Benguet Corporation. The plant is the largest commercial foundry in the Philippines today, with a capacity to produce
700 tons per month. It produces a wide range of alloys -- manganese, chrome moly, stainless steel, carbon steel and cast iron for cast parts for the mining, cement, aggregates / quarry, sugar and allied industries in
both the domestic and international markets. Among its significant foreign markets include the U.S.A., Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Japan and other countries in Europe and the Middle East. |

Plant Site The BMC Foundry Plant is located on an 11.7- hectare property in Alaminos, Laguna which is about 80 kms. south of Manila.
Located on the site are the main foundry plant, office / warehouse / maintenance buildings, pattern shop buildings, and system building, radiography building, quality control laboratory, utility building and auxiliary
buildings. |

Production Capability The Foundry has a rated melting capacity of 8,400 metric tons per year and employs a significant number of experienced and
highly-skilled workers.
It consistently produces castings that meet international standards of quality by combining new production methods with time-tested processing techniques.
The Foundry has a
complete line of machinery and equipment supporting the various stages of production: pattern making, core making, molding, melting, heat treatment, and finishing.
BMC also has a separate machine shop which
includes vertical boring mills, vertical turret lathe, and plano-milling machine to handle the machining requirements of the manufactured product lines. |
|
 |
 |
Quality Assurance The Foundry is equipped with sophisticated quality control equipment that can immediately spot defects in raw materials and production
processes.
BMC is in the process of acquiring an International Standards Organization (ISO) 9002 accreditation, the international stamp of approval on the products of a manufacturing firm. An ISO
accreditation is expected to increase the Foundry's markets. |

Facilities and Equipment BMC Foundry consistently produces castings that meet international standards of quality by combining new production methods
with time-tested processing techniques.
BMC's pattern-making facilities are manned by experienced and highly skilled workers who create patterns that comply even with the most rigid specifications.
BMC
Foundry pioneered in the Philippines the application of SOLSTAR, a computer simulation software package. With the aid of SOLSTAR, Method Engineers can determine the most effective risering and gating system to
produce sound castings. |

Product Line The Foundry's product line includes a wide range of steel and iron castings for the mining, cement, aggregates/quarry, sugar and allied
industries in both the domestic and international markets. |
